Spicy Crockpot Chicken

I know people were taught that breast meat is the "healthiest" but I'm here to tell you that the science does not support this. The breast meat is the LEAST NUTRITIOUS part of the chicken. FACT.

Benefit to this recipe: It’s a crockpot/slowcooker recipe, so it’s fast to prepare with little work; A set-it-and-forget-it recipe, if you will, that won’t heat up your house.

(If you are allergic to nickel, substitute shallots for onions. Hope you enjoy!

Spicy Crockpot Chicken

  • Serves:4

  • Total: 3H   15M


  • 1 T paprika
  • 1 T sea salt
  • 1 T onion powder
  • 1 T dried thyme
  • 1 T garlic powder
  • 1 T curry powder
  • 1 T dried basil
  • 1 T dried sage
  • 1 T black pepper
  • 2 onions sliced
  • 1 whole chicken or 8 thighs
  • ghee or animal fat


Mix all spices into a small bowl and slice the onions.

Place the onions at the bottom of the slow cooker.

Remove giblets from chicken if it has it, rinse it, pat it dry and then spread the spices over the chicken and under the skin of the breasts.

Rub the fat onto the meat and then place the chicken on the onions.

Cook for 3 hours on high or 6 on low.
